After the Rangers slugged their way to a 16-9 victory in the opener of a twi-night doubleheader, the Tigers came back to capture the nightcap, 10-4. Eric Soderholm led the Ranger attack in the lidlifter with two homers, a single and sacrifice fly, driving in six runs to tie the club record for RBIs in a game.

Two homers by John Wockenfuss paced the Tigers in the second contest. The Tiger left fielder connected for a bases-empty round-tripper in the second inning and clouted his first career grand slam in the third. [The Sporting News]
