. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Making his first major league start, Brian Allard allowed only five hits in 6 1/3 innings to gain his first victory as the Rangers defeated the Indians, 5-2. Jim Kern held the Indians hitless in the last 2 2/3 innings and picked up his 19th save.

The Rangers scored in the first on a double by Buddy Bell and a single by Al Oliver before clinching the decision with three runs in the third. Larvell Blanks led off with his first homer of the season and John Ellis capped the inning with a two-run single. Mike Hargrove homered for the Indians. [The Sporting News]
