Overcoming a 5-0 early deficit, the Red Sox came back to edge the Twins, 6-5. The score was 5-5 in the eighth inning when the Bosox went ahead on a two-out homer by Butch Hobson. Tom Burgmeier pitched 7 2/3 innings of four-hit shutout relief to get credit for the victory. The Sox had tied the game with a four-run outburst in the seventh stanza, the key blows being a two-run single by Rick Burleson and two-run homer by Fred Lynn. [The Sporting News]
