A bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Brewers a 6-5 victory over the Royals. The score was 5-5 when Cecil Cooper lined a two-out single off Royal reliever Dan Quisenberry. A single by Sixto Lezcano sent Cooper to third and brought on Al Hrabosky in relief of Quisenberry.

Hrabosky walked Ben Oglivie to load the bases and was removed after a 3-1 count on Gorman Thomas. Marty Pattin came in, threw one strike and then served up a fourth ball, forcing the winning run home. [The Sporting News]
