Tossing a four-hitter, Paul Splittorff pitched the Royals to a 4-2 triumph over the Orioles. The Royals took the lead in the first inning when Willie Wilson struck out but reached first on a passed ball, stole second and scored on a single by George Brett.

In the second, after a sacrifice fly by Todd Cruz, the Royals scored another run when Orioles' starter Dennis Martinez balked as Frank White headed for home on an attempted two-out steal. The Royals' final run came in the sixth on a homer by Cruz. [The Sporting News]
