Rick Langford allowed only three hits and pitched the A's to their third straight victory, defeating the Indians, 4-1. The Indians bunched singles by Mike Hargrove and Jim Norris, a sacrifice bunt by Rick Manning and sacrifice fly by Cliff Johnson for their run in the first inning. Johnson singled in the fourth for the only other hit off Langford.

The A's tied the score in their half of the first on a single by Rickey Henderson, a stolen base and a single by Dave Revering before pulling ahead in the fifth with two runs on a double by Rob Picciolo, pass to Henderson, single by Dwayne Murphy and double by Wayne Gross. [The Sporting News]
