. . . where the 1970s live forever!

In a game called after eight innings because of rain, the Red Sox defeated the Twins, 9-4. The Red Sox scored three runs in the first inning on singles by Rick Burleson and Jim Rice and a two-run error by second baseman Rob Wilfong.

Two runs followed in the seventh on a double by Burleson, single by Ted Sizemore and double by Fred Lynn. The closing four runs in the eighth were produced by an RBI single by Butch Hobson, double by Dwight Evans, sacrifice fly by Gary Allenson and a wild pitch. [The Sporting News]
