Homers by George Foster and Johnny Bench powered the Reds to a 7-2 thumping of the Expos. Foster clouted a two-run shot in the first inning and Bench connected for a three-run swat after singles by Dave Collins and Joe Morgan in the fourth.

Bench's round-tripper was the 325th of his career and made him the Reds' all-time homer king, passing Frank Robinson's total with the club. [The Sporting News]
