Continuing to set a hot pace in the East division, the Orioles swept a doubleheader from the White Sox, 12-7 and 4-3, with the second game going 13 innings. In the opener, Mike Flanagan became the league's first 18-game winner. Doug DeCinces drilled his third career grand-slam homer in the first inning and Ken Singleton connected for a three-run blast in the second.
