Breaking a 1-1 tie with two runs in the eighth inning, the Astros posted a 4-1 triumph over the Phillies. Cesar Cedeno, who had five hits in the game, led off the decisive stanza with a triple and scored on a single by Craig Reynolds.

Terry Puhl bunted and Reynolds came all the way home when Manny Trillo, covering first, could not handle pitcher Kevin Saucier's throw. A single by Joe Sambito in the ninth plated the Astros' final tally. [The Sporting News]
