In the lidlifter, the score was 3-3 in the eighth inning when Rob Wilfong drilled a one-out double, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a single by Ken Landreaux.

In the second contest, Jim Palmer, getting ninth-inning relief help from Tippy Martinez, posted his first victory since June 27. Gary Roenicke slugged a two-run homer in the second and Lee May hit a solo blast in the fourth. [The Sporting News]
