Helped by four errors, the White Sox posted a 7-3 victory over the Red Sox. The score was 1-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when Claudell Washington tripled and continued home on a throwing error by second baseman Stan Papi.

A single by Mike Colbern, double by Kevin Bell and intentional pass to Mike Squires then loaded the bases before Jorge Orta walked to force in another run. The White Sox picked up three more runs in the seventh, two coming in on an error by right fielder Jim Dwyer. [The Sporting News]
