Driving in three runs, Jerry Morales led the Tigers to a 12-2 lambasting of the slumping Angels, who lost their sixth game out of the last seven. Morales doubled home a run in the second inning and scored on a single by Tom Brookens.

Ron LeFlore tripled in a third-inning run and came home on three walks. Morales followed with a two-run single. Singles by John Wockenfuss and Lou Whitaker plated two more runs before the inning ended. [The Sporting News]
