Doc Medich fired a two-hitter and pitched the Rangers to a 6-0 whitewashing of the Red Sox. The Rangers opened a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Mickey Rivers and Bump Wills opened with singles. After Wills stole second, Rivers scored on an infield out by Al Oliver and Wills raced home on a sacrifice fly by Richie Zisk.
