. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Carney Lansford belted homers in his first three trips to the plate and Dan Ford added a round-tripper, but the Angels had to overcome a grand slam by Andre Thornton before defeating the Indians, 7-4. The Angels' homers all came with the bases empty for a 4-0 lead. Thornton's smash off Jim Barr in the sixth inning tied the score.

The Angels broke the deadlock with two runs in the eighth. Willie Aikens walked and took second on a wild pitch by Wayne Garland. Brian Downing sacrificed and when Garland threw wildly to first, Aikens scored and Downing took second. After two out, Bert Campaneris bunted for a hit to Toby Harrah, who threw wildly to first, allowing Downing to score. Another error by Jim Norris enabled the Angels to add a run in the ninth.
