A three-run homer by Don Baylor in the first inning triggered the Angels to a 6-5 triumph over the White Sox. Baylor's blow followed a one-out walk to Carney Lansford and single by Dan Ford. Bobby Grich belted a solo homer in the fourth frame.

The Angels picked up another run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Ford and added their final tally in the sixth on a two-out grounder by Willie Aikens that hit first base and skipped into right field for a double. After Thad Bosley singled to begin the Sox ninth, Ford made a game-saving catch on a drive by pinch-hitter Junior Moore, leaping high to take away a homer. [The Sporting News]
