Unfurling a two hitter, Jerry Koosman posted his 18th victory of the season as the Twins copped a 5-1 decision over the Royals. The Twins loaded the bases in the first inning on a double, infield single and hit batsman and Dave Edwards then drove home two runs with a single.

The Twins picked up another pair in the fifth on doubles by Bombo Rivera and Butch Wynegar, a sacrifice and a wild pitch. Ron Jackson clouted a homer in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
