With Steve Comer firing a four-hitter, the Rangers defeated the Mariners, 5-2, for their fourth straight victory. The Rangers scored three runs in the first inning. Mickey Rivers led off the game with a double, Bump Wills walked and both moved up on a groundout by Al Oliver.

A single by Buddy Bell plated two tallies and a double by Pat Putnam drove in Bell. The Rangers picked up two more markers in the seventh on consecutive singles by Rivers, Wills, Oliver and Bell. [The Sporting News]
