The five-hit pitching of Tom Seaver and Manny Sarmiento and home runs by Johnny Bench, Dan Driessen, Dave Concepcion and George Foster powered the Reds past the Giants, 12-3. Bench hit a three-run homer and Driessen a two-run homer in a six-run outburst in the first inning.

Joe Morgan's single and back-to-back homers by Concepcion and Foster gave the Reds three more runs in the second. Rob Andrews hit two homers for the Giants. [The Sporting News]
