. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Rookie Craig Chamberlain, winning for the fourth time in five decisions, pitched the Royals to a 6-2 victory over the Mariners. The Royals put the game away with four runs in the sixth inning. George Brett beat out a hit to Rick Honeycutt, advanced to second on the losing pitcher's wild throw and scored on a single by Amos Otis. After a pass to Darrell Porter and a sacrifice, Frank White was walked intentionally to load the bases.

John Wathan responded with a double, driving in two runs, and another scored on a sacrifice fly by U.L. Washington. Larry Milbourne spoiled Chamberlain's bid for a shutout with a two-run homer in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
