The Expos' club-record 10-game winning streak came to an end with a 5-4 loss to the Cardinals. The Expos almost pulled the game out of the fire with two runs in the ninth inning on a single by Larry Parrish, Rodney Scott's second triple of the game and a sacrifice fly by John Tamargo, but after a single by Dave Cash, Mark Littell struck out Andre Dawson to quell the rally.

The Cards, after taking a 3-2 lead, decided the outcome with two runs in the seventh inning on a single by Garry Templeton, pass to Keith Hernandez, single by Ted Simmons and sacrifice fly by Tony Scott. [The Sporting News]
