A pair of errors in the fifth inning negated strong pitching by Jerry Reuss in the Dodgers' 4-1 loss to the Reds. Ron Cey's fumble of a sacrifice by Bill Bonham resulted in the bases being loaded with two out. Joe Morgan bounced to Cey, whose soft toss to Davey Lopes at second resulted in the second baseman leaving the bag to take the throw. Lopes was charged with an error, and Dave Concepcion then nailed the Dodgers to the cross with a single to right that plated two runs, Bonham scoring with a headfirst slide.
