Jim Morrison belted two homers and Alan Bannister singled home the tie-breaking run as the White Sox edged the Angels, 8-7. The score was 7-7 in the sixth inning when Kevin Bell drew a one-out walk off loser Don Aase. Dave LaRoche relieved and was greeted with consecutive singles by Mike Squires and Bannister.

The White Sox jumped on Angel starter Nolan Ryan for five runs in the first inning with Morrison's first round-tripper capping the outburst. Morrison's second circuit swat put the White Sox ahead, 7-5, but the Angels tied the score in the sixth with a solo homer by Brian Downing and squeeze bunt single by Rod Carew. [The Sporting News]
