A tie-breaking homer by Ken Landreaux touched off a three-run 12th inning that carried the Twins past the Rangers, 7-4. The Twins added two more runs on a double by Butch Wynegar, intentional walk to Ron Jackson, single by Bombo Rivera and sacrifice bunt by John Castino.

The Rangers had rallied to tie the score at 4-4 in the ninth on run-scoring singles by Billy Sample and Jim Sundberg. Jim Kern, pitching the final 3 1/3 innings, got credit for his 12th win of the season. [The Sporting News]
