Sending 14 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs in the first inning, the Orioles enjoyed a 13-3 rout of the Red Sox. The first three runs were driven in with singles by Edde Murray, Gary Roenicke and Lee May. After Doug DeCinces drilled a double for the fourth run, an intentional pass to Rich Dauer filled the bases.

Rick Dempsey walked to force in a run and Mark Belanger was hit by a pitch to force home another. A grounder by Al Bumbry, double by Ken Singleton and an error accounted for three more runs before the inning ended. [The Sporting News]
