The Indians scalped the Yankees twice, 5-1 and 6-5. The Yanks led the curtain-raiser, 1-0, in the fifth inning when the Tribe went ahead to stay on a walk to Mike Hargrove, single by Rick Manning, RBI single by Andre Thornton and run-scoring double by Cliff Johnson.

The second contest was tied, 5-5, going into the bottom of the ninth, when Tom Veryzer stroked a one-out single and scored the winning marker on a triple by Hargrove. [The Sporting News]
