John Castino drove in all of the Twins' runs to beat the Yankees, 3-1. Rookie Dave Righetti was the loser, although yielding only three hits in seven innings.

In the second, Roy Smalley doubled and scored on a single by Castino. The Yankees tied the score in the seventh with a single by George Scott and double by Chris Chambliss, but in the Twins' half, Bombo Rivera walked and Castino homered to decide the outcome. [The Sporting News]
