. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A single by Manny Trillo in the seventh inning drove in Larry Bowa for the Phillies' deciding run in a 2-1 victory over the Pirates. Pete Rose, batting safely in his 18th straight game, singled in the first, took third on a single by Mike Schmidt and counted the Phillies' initial run on a sacrifice fly by Greg Luzinski.

The Pirates loaded the bases with singles by Bill Madlock, Phil Garner and Jim Rooker in the fifth and tied the score when Randy Lerch forced in a run with a pass to Tim Foli. Bowa singled in the seventh and moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Lerch. The Pirates then passed Rose intentionally to get at Trillo, who wrecked the move with his game-winning single.
