Bob Welch, who had been bothered by elbow trouble, made only his third appearance in over two months and gained his first victory since May 15 when the Dodgers defeated the Giants, 3-0. Welch worked the first five innings and allowed four singles. Joe Beckwith finished and yielded three more hits.
