U.L. Washington walloped the first two homers of his major league career, each with two men on base, and tied the Kansas City club record for RBIs in one game as the Royals trounced the A's, 13-4. Washington hit his first homer batting lefthanded against Rick Langford in the second inning and hit his second homer swinging righthanded against Craig Minetto in the third.

Hal McRae also rapped a three-run homer for the Royals. Langford, the A's loser, was stopped on his string of 10 complete games. [The Sporting News]
