Bruce Kison scattered seven hits in pitching the Pirates to a 10-1 triumph over the Expos as the Bucs extended their lead in the East division to 1½ games. A two-run homer by Phil Garner in the fourth inning opened up a 3-0 lead and the Pirates broke the game open with four runs in the sixth.

John Milner and Bill Madlock led off the frame with walks and came home on a double by Ed Ott. A double by Garner plated Ott and the final run of inning scored on a single by Omar Moreno. [The Sporting News]
