Jim Spencer cracked two homers and Graig Nettles also connected for a round-tripper as the Yankees beat the Blue Jays, 9-2, ending the season with an eight-game winning streak. Ron Guidry pitched three innings and struck out four batters, giving him a total of 201 to go along with 248 last year, marking the first time any Yankee pitcher had two 200-plus strikeout seasons.
