Tommy John posted his 37th career shutout as the Yankees topped the White Sox, 6-0. A three-run rally in the fourth inning was sufficient to win the game. Lou Piniella drew a one-out walk, raced to third on a single by Dennis Werth and scored on a sacrifice fly by Rick Cerone. Bucky Dent then walked and Willie Randolph singled, scoring Werth.
