Playing in his 18th San Francisco home opener, Willie McCovey drove in three runs with a double and two singles and Vida Blue pitched a complete game to lead the Giants to a 7-3 triumph over the Padres before 51,175. McCovey drove in a first-inning run with a single, doubled home another in the third and stroked a run-scoring single in the fifth when the Giants tallied four times. [The Sporting News]
