The Mariners scored only three runs in each half of a twi-night doubleheader, but that was enough to produce 3-1 and 3-2 victories over the Twins. Floyd Bannister was the winner of a six-hit duel with Roger Erickson in the opener. The Mariners scored all their runs in the second inning on singles by Bruce Bochte, Willie Horton and Joe Simpson, an interference call against Twins third baseman John Castino and a single by Larry Cox.

The Mariners won the nightcap when they broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the sixth inning on a single by Rodney Craig, sacrifice by Dan Meyer and double by Bochte. [The Sporting News]
