A homer by Otto Velez with two men on base highlighted a four-run first inning that propelled the Blue Jays to a 5-3 decision over the Indians. Velez' blow came with two out following singles by Alfredo Griffin and Rick Bosetti. Barry Bonnell then doubled and Damaso Garcia singled for another run.
