A grand-slam homer by Barry Foote in the ninth inning -- his second round-tripper of the game --enabled the Cubs finally to prevail, 16-12, in a Pier 6 donnybrook with the Cardinals. The Redbirds led, 12-6, at one stage, but the Cubs came back and eventually tied the game, 12-12, on a solo homer by Foote in the eighth. The wild affair featured 39 hits, including six homers.
