Dale Murphy hit what appeared to be a certain double-play grounder, but Dave Cash missed touching second base and Blanks was called safe, although Murphy was out at first. After Chris Chambliss beat out a slow roller that moved Blanks to third, Jeff Burroughs followed with a run-scoring infield hit. Asselstine then tagged an 0-1 pitch for the game-winner.
