. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Two homers by George Hendrick lifted the Cardinals to a 3-1 victory behind the pitching of Pete Vuckovich, who beat the Phillies for the seventh straight time. Hendrick snapped a 1-1 tie with his first round-tripper in the fourth inning and then provided an insurance run with his second smash in the sixth. Vuckovich, who brought his career record against the Phils to 7-2, faltered in the ninth and needed help from Bob Sykes and Mark Littell to preserve his victory. [The Sporting News]
