Breaking a 1-1 tie, Richie Zisk drove in two runs with a two-out, bases-loaded single in the ninth inning as the Rangers defeated the Indians, 4-1. Cleveland starter Rick Waits, who retired 20 straight batters at one stretch of the game, gave up a single by Mickey Rivers with one out in the ninth.

Bump Wills singled Rivers to third and stole second after Al Oliver struck out. The Indians then decided to pass Buddy Bell intentionally in a move that failed when Zisk singled. Billy Sample followed with a double for an extra run. [The Sporting News]
