Taking advantage of Minnesota errors, the Mariners defeated the Twins, 6-4, as Rick Honeycutt received credit for his fourth victory of the season, tops in the majors. The Mariners picked up a run in the second inning on a triple by Willie Horton and RBI double by Leon Roberts.

They added five in the fourth with three coming in when left fielder Ken Landreaux permitted Dan Meyer's bases-loaded drive to glance off his glove. Twins outfielder Bombo Rivera suffered a fractured kneecap when he crashed into a post while fielding Horton's triple and he will be sidelined for at least six weeks. [The Sporting News]
