Unfurling a three-hitter, Ken Forsch pitched the Astros to a 3-0 victory over the Reds. The Astros scored their first run in the fourth inning when Joe Morgan singled, stole second and, after an infield hit by Art Howe, came home when Enos Cabell bounced into a double play.

Cesar Cedeno blasted a two-run homer in the sixth to put the game on ice. The Reds' only scoring threat came in the fifth when they loaded the bases with two out, but Forsch then struck out Ken Griffey. [The Sporting News]
