. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Allowing only one hit, Larry Gura pitched the Royals to a 3-0 victory over the Blue Jays. It was Gura's third shutout in five starts. Damaso Garcia led off the seventh inning with a double to wreck Gura's no-hit bid. Loser Jesse Jefferson also flirted with a no-hitter for 6 1/3 innings before giving up a single by Hal McRae. The Royals broke up the scoreless duel in the eighth when John Wathan singled and, after two out, Clint Hurdle homered. McRae added a round-tripper in the ninth for an insurance run.
