The Dodgers rallied for two runs in the ninth inning and defeated the Giants, 4-3, for their 10th straight victory. After Darrell Evans homered in the eighth to put the Giants ahead, 3-2, the Dodgers began the ninth with pinch-singles by Jay Johnstone and Gary Thomasson. Mickey Hatcher sacrificed. Davey Lopes was safe on a grounder that was fumbled by Giants shortstop Johnny LeMaster as pinch-runner Derrel Thomas scored.
