. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A two-run round-tripper by Buddy Bell in the first inning triggered the Rangers to an 11-3 rout of the Red Sox as Gaylord Perry won his 281st major league game, tops among active pitchers. Bell's swat came after Bump Wills doubled. Texas scored a pair of unearned runs in the second when Johnny Grubb reached first on an error by Carl Yastrzemski, Al Oliver doubled home a tally and Jim Sundberg stroked a sacrifice fly.
