A homer by Jerry Martin leading off the fourth inning snapped a 2-2 tie and triggered the Cubs to a 7-4 victory over the Padres. The Cubs added another run in the fourth on a double by Scot Thompson and single by Mike Tyson. Bill Buckner rapped run-scoring doubles in the third and seventh.
