Bob Watson drove in all of the Yankees' runs to escort Ron Guidry to a 5-2 victory over the Twins. Watson homered in the first inning after Willie Randolph singled and Ruppert Jones was safe when his bunt attempt was fumbled by Jerry Koosman.

The Twins' starter departed with two men on base in the eighth and Watson greeted reliever John Verhoeven with a two-run double. Guidry lost his bid for a shutout when Willie Norwood hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning. [The Sporting News]
