. . . where the 1970s live forever!

When John Montefusco came down with a sore throat prior to the game, Vida Blue took the starting assignment and pitched the Giants to a 6-3 victory over the Cubs. Blue was tagged for 11 hits but generally kept them scattered.

Jim Wohlford whacked his first N. L. homer for the Giants and Jack Clark drove in three runs, getting credit for one RBI by drawing a pass with the bases loaded and rapping a pair of singles to produce the other two. [The Sporting News]
