U.L. Washington drove in four runs and Darrell Porter knocked in three, including two with his first homer of the year, to lead the Royals to a 13-8 victory over the Red Sox, who lost in spite of five RBIs by Dwight Evans. The Royals rapped four Red Sox pitchers for 18 hits, with Willie Wilson having a 4-for-6 day.

Dennis Eckersley, who started for the Red Sox, was kayoed in the first inning when the Royals scored five runs, two on Porter's homer and two on a bases-loaded single by Washington. A double by Washington produced two of the Royals' four runs in the third. [The Sporting News]
