The Phillies' runs came on homers by Bake McBride, Larry Bowa and Mike Schmidt. Bowa hit an inside-the-park blow on which Dave Collins and Sam Mejias collided.

The Reds, who had a homer by Dan Driessen, trailed, 3-2, in the seventh when they scored the tying and deciding runs on a walk to Seaver, a sacrifice, double by Junior Kennedy and error by Bowa, who dropped a two-out fly by Ray Knight in short left field. [The Sporting News]
